| Joe: |
G'day Pres. Great win today aye? |
| Pres: |
Yes Joe. Great win,
but what are you doing with that can? We don't even sell
that brand of beer here. |
| Joe: |
Well, I can't afford to pay $5.50 for a can of
beer, so me and my mate organised a carton on ice in the boot of
the car - for about $2 a can. |
| Pres: |
Firstly Joe, you can't do
that. Secondly, do you realise that your are cheating
yourself? |
| Joe: |
Uh! What do you mean? |
| Pres: |
Well Joe. As a member
of this Club, you are a part owner and unless you support the Club
the right way, you are cheating yourself! |
| Joe: |
Gee whiz Pres. I never thought about
like that. |
| Pres: |
Well, how do you think the
Club makes money to pay for sport? |
| Joe: |
I see what you mean. But, $5.50 seems a lot
when they're about $2 from the drive through. |
| Pres: |
There are many costs in
running your Club and $5.50 is necessary. Our prices are
still much cheaper than over the bar prices from the Hotels. |
| Joe: |
OK Pres. But, where does the per
can profit go? |
| Pres: |
Now, that is a very good
question Joe. I will list some costs for you.
1. Hire of clubrooms and oval
2. Electricity and oval lighting
3. Insurance
4. Wages
5. Telephone
6. Cleaning supplies and toilet hygiene
7. Music licence
8. Tobacco licence
9. Auditor fees
10.Bank fees
11.Beer line servicing & BOC gases
12.Rubbish collection
13.Printing & Stationery
14.Postage
15.Repairs & Maintenance
16.Security
17.Workcover
18.SuperannuationThat about covers
it Joe, although I may have missed some. Now, anything left out of
the profit goes to cover the cost of sport. Just as a matter of
interest Joe, Senior Football (3 teams) costs about $70,000 per
year and Senior Cricket (5 teams) costs about $50,000 per year. |
| Joe: |
Gee! Pres, you have made me feel bad. I
am gonna take my esky home right now and when I get back, I am
gonna buy you a Crown Lager! |
| Pres: |
Joe, that is magnificent.
JUST REMEMBER - IT'S NOT WHAT THE CLUB CAN DO FOR YOU, BUT WHAT
YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR CLUB |
| Joe: |
Love ya work Pres. |
